Happy Guru Purnima! Remembering that ‘Gu’ conquers darkness and ‘Ru’ removes it. ‘Gu’ means darkness or ignorance. ‘Ru’ means removing, destroying, or dispelling darkness or ignorance (Advayataraka Upanishad, Verse 16). Our true Guru is our own soul, the eternal light within. Let’s awaken from within and embrace our inner freedom! Today, we celebrate and honor the guidance and wisdom of our Gurus. May their teachings inspire and enlighten us always. Happy Guru Purnima! I am sharing my new poem today.
Who is a Guru?
Gu means darkness or ignorance.
Ru means remover of darkness or ignorance.
The Soul is immortal (Bhagavad Gita).
From Oneness comes oneness (Poornamidam Sutra of Isha Upanishad).
I learned from nature’s 24 Gurus (Avadhut Gita).
Teachers, guides, mentors, and parents are outside Gurus.
Outer light is dependency and bondage.
Inner light is independence and freedom.
Learning is from outside, and awakening is from within.
The flowering is a metaphor.
The fullness of the moon is a metaphor.
The flower and fragrance are inseparable.
The body and Soul are inseparable.
The body is like a flower, and the Soul is like its fragrance.
The true Guru (Soul) is within you.
The Gurughantal is outside of you.
The Guru within you is unborn and immortal.
