Happy Navaratri. Who is Devi?

Navaratri

The whole is non-dual. It manifests only in duality.

The whole is non-dual. It is called Advait. It is Nirgun and Nirakar. It is nameless and formless. It manifests in duality and plurality. The unmanifest is formless. And all manifestation is in some form. The Upanishads have called the non-dual as Ekam Advitium. The whole is neither singular nor plural. It is non-dual. All duality disappears in that experience. You can never become the whole. But you can attain wholeness and oneness.

It manifests as Deva and Devi. Deva is a masculine principle, and Devi is a feminine principle.

The whole manifests as Deva and Devi. Deva is a masculine principle, and Devi is a feminine principle. In Chinese mythology, Chi is a universal formless energy. It is in an unmanifest form. But it manifests as Yin and Yang. Yin is a feminine energy. It is similar to Devi in the Hindu mythology. And Yang is a masculine energy. It is identical to Deva in the Hindu mythology. These are the two opposite forces. They appear to be opposites but are actually complementary.

Life is a symphony of these two. It is an interplay of these two divine forces.

When Deva and Devi are not at ease, it indicates ill-health. When Yin and Yang are not in balance, it indicates an imbalance. They are interdependent. One can not exist without the other. Deva is an active and proactive energy. It is like the bright light. Devi is a passive and receptive energy. It is like the darkness. They complement and complete each other. In Taoism, Yin and Yang are the two fundamental forces that are present everywhere and in everything. These two dualistic forces appear as opposites, but are complementary. They are interdependent. They complement and complete each other. One can not exist without the other.

When they are collaborative and cooperative, there is dance.

When these two seemingly opposite energies work together and collaborate, they bring about creation and prosperity. This interaction is called the dance of the opposites. It is a dance of Shiva and Shakti.

When they are antagonistic, chaos and confusion ensue.

When these two seemingly opposite energies are antagonistic, there is chaos and confusion. All conflict is because of the unfriendliness of these two energies. This conflict eventually takes the form of wars. And due to this, there is only destruction.

These two divine principles are present in each one of us.

These two divine principles are present in each one of us. They are present in everything. They are present everywhere. Nothing is complete without them.

Navaratri is a process to invoke this Devi principle in you.

Navaratri is a process to invoke this Devi principle in you. It is a process of celebration. You invoke and invite this Devi Tatva in you.

When you meet and merge, you find peace and bliss.

When you meet and merge, you find peace and bliss. Your body, mind, and heart are made of these two opposites. They all merge in the soul. The soul then merges with the supreme.

When you attain Oneness, you reach peace and bliss.

The meeting and merging give you the experience of Oneness. The byproduct of this is peace and bliss.

Today is just the first day. You have nine nights and ten days.

Today is just the first day. You have nine nights and ten days. You have seen this festival coming every year. This year is a new opportunity. If you just become ritualistic and mechanical without understanding the deeper meanings, you will get stuck in the rituals. The ritual should lead you to the realization. This can come only through understanding and awareness.

If not the first, the 10th day can be victorious. It is called Vijayadashmi.

All nine forms of the Devi are just stepping stones to the formless. The tenth day is to meet and merge in the formless. It is nameless and formless. It is Nirakar and Nirgun. In the quantum realm, the particle gains properties only on observation. In the spiritual realm, you attain the Advait through the witnessing consciousness. Your witnessing consciousness can lead you to the non-dual experience of the supreme. Navaratri is a process of celebration. There are nine nights and ten days. The tenth day is called Vijayadashmi. It is a Sanskrit word made of two words, Vijay, which means victory, and Dashmi, which means ten. The tenth day has to be the victory day. On all nine days, Devi comes in some form. But you should not get stuck in the form. You should use these as opportunities to jump into the formless.

On all 9 days, the Devi comes in some form. You should not get stuck with the form. All the forms of the Devi are enchanting. They are attractive. They attract you and detract you. You should be conscious. You should be aware. The purpose of every ritual is realization. When you get stuck in the form, you get stuck in the ritual and miss the opportunity for realization.
